A stack of papers 4 ft high to act as both camera operator and tripod for a shot involving all 3 people who showed up. Worked surprisingly well, even for hidden cuts and the like.

Another one was a dummy fashioned from a shovel and a trench coat, to be thrown out of a speeding vehicle in lew of a stuntman. Looked pretty good.

A boom pole from a hockey stick, extension and a shotgun mic.

great thread...but i have never made a film in my life so i can't really join in!!

except once i recorded the guitar on a demo with a 1.5 watt "toy" marshall amp by putting the amp in the bottom of a metal waste paper basket and dangling a microphone inside.

everybody who heard the demo commented on the great guitar sound...so i just told them it was a marshall and left it at that!

I wanted a spinning shot from above of a guy lying down on the ground looking up.

So made a harness out of rope that supported the camera looking downwards, and spun it around.

I think its called plastic carry bag cam, where you do the same but put a hole in the bag and the camera pocking out from it.

Unfortunatley this worked well, and I got what I wanted only in doing it it wrecked the lens on the camera, which meant everything else we filmed that weekend was pretty much unusable. (The veiwfinder was fine so I didnt notice)

Not that cool in the end, but I was quite pleased when I made it, and it did work for what I wanted it for.

Chance: Ok... Glad it's the equipment that's at fault, coz it's easier to replace!

Thinking about it, I used an (empty) bottle of vodka filled with water as... well, a bottle of vodka... Erm...
